The film’s costume designers, Narendra Kumar Ahmed and Rita Dhody, have done an impressive job, which is evident in the final product. “Fashion” is one of the few breakthrough fashion movies in Bollywood, providing a glimpse behind the glamour of the ramp and spotlight. Through the perspective of Meghna Mathur, portrayed by Priyanka Chopra, the film captures the ups and downs of a supermodel’s life, making it one of the best fashion films in Bollywood.

2. Aisha 2010 (Available on Prime Video)

Aisha Kapoor, a young and wealthy girl from an upper-class background, fancies herself as a skilled matchmaker, particularly amongst her circle of friends. In the Bollywood film, “Aisha,” the fashion scene was redefined by featuring international designer brands such as vintage Chanel, Ferragamo, and Dior.

Pernia Qureshi and Kunal Rawal teamed up to produce one of the must-watch Bollywood fashion movies, Aisha. This film made history by collaborating with fashion powerhouses like Salvatore Ferragamo, Christian Dior, and Chanel, marking the first time in Bollywood that such a feat was accomplished. The movie, a modern adaptation of Jane Austen’s “Emma,” starred Sonam Kapoor as the titular character, and had girls captivated by Aisha’s various looks.

3. Khoobsurat 2014 (Available on Netflix)

In the Bollywood film, “Khoobsurat,” Milli, portrayed by Sonam Kapoor, is a quirky physiotherapist who works for a royal family. She is troubled by their cold demeanor towards her, but as she gets to know them better, she falls in love with the young prince, who is already engaged to someone else. The filam has made it to the list of must-watch Bollywood fashion movies because of its impeccable styling. Stylist Karuna Laungani perfectly captured Milli’s quirky nature by incorporating vibrant colors, prints, and styles into her wardrobe.

Fawad Khan plays the role of the prince, and menswear designer Raghavendra Rathore dressed him in bandhgalas, waistcoats, two-button jackets, breeches, and pocket squares to achieve the regal look. While the movie includes western looks, it’s the Indian attire that steals the spotlight.

4. Dil Dhadakne Do 2015 (Available on Netflix)


In the Bollywood film, “Dil Dhadakne Do,” a dysfunctional wealthy family and their friends embark on a cruise ship vacation, hoping to project the illusion of a happy family. Complementing the breathtaking cinematography in exotic locations, the costumes play a vital role in defining the high-profile characters’ personalities and setting the tone for the film. Against stunning backdrops, the menswear ranges from nautical chic, featuring khaki pants, sailor tees, and printed loafers, to badass suits, such as Ranveer’s striking red two-piece suit. Stylist Arjun Bhasin has brought each character to life with a contemporary feel, using clothes as an irrevocable extension of their changing personalities as the movie progresses. His creations have enlivened the lead actors’ looks, leaving a lasting impression on the audience.
