Outlandish! Extravagant! Stunning! These and definitely many more adjectives aptly describe the mood of the Met Gala 2021 red carpet looks. Sticking to the theme of “American Independence”, on the 13th, the second Monday in September, the red carpet of the Metropolitan Museum was abuzz with celebrities bringing their A-game into play. Presenting a refreshing take on American fashion, the celebrities sported emerging designers from diverse backgrounds and some of the ensembles that go beyond the same old Hollywood glam. For the Met Gala 2021 red carpet looks, the guests interpreted the themes in their own terms and gave the onlookers some of the jaw-dropping looks. Here are some of the looks from the red carpet that turned heads (both in good and bad ways).
1. Kim Kardashian
The all-black Balenciaga gown. All hail the queen!
Always the gutsy, she sported a voluminous coat dress by Balenciaga.
3. Lupita Nyong’o
Looking like a dream in a denim gown by Versace.
4. Kendall Jenner
Inspired from “My Fair Lady”, the supermodel wore a barely-there gown by Givenchy. Head Turner? The choker and shoulder details.
5. Kim Petras
Presenting one of the most eccentric Met Gala 2021 red carpet looks, Kim wore a floral ballgown with a horse head top by Collina Strada.
6. Lil Nas X
He brought extravagance to the Met Gala red carpet looks. He entered in a royal golden cloak with embroidered hem and collar. He then removed the cloak to reveal a golden armor suit. Finally, the suit was pulled apart to reveal his final look i.e., a glittering gold catsuit.
7. Dan Levy
Showcasing a custom Loewe, Dan Levy’s red carpet look presented artwork by David Wojnarowicz. The structural outfit hence displayed a masterpiece with two men kissing each other.
She wore a football-inspired outfit by Dundas. The number displayed is a reference to her husband Russell Wilson who’s a quarterback.
One of the Met Gala red carpets looks with an awful lot of leather and fringes. Presenting this piece by Rick Owens, Rosalia won hearts.
10. Billie Eilish
Dressed like a dream in an Oscar De La Renta gown, she made the design house go fur-free in the future. Dressing up for a noble cause? Def!
From paying homage to American icons to giving us a newer take on American expression, this year’s Met Gala 2021 red carpet looks were truly outstanding. Which one caught your eyes?
